Unique Clothing

One of the reasons I love crafts and handmade items is because they are unique.  I can make ten of something but they will all turn out slightly different.  And because the items aren't mass produced not everyone has one which makes them unique.  For this reason I tend to shop online and look for clothing or other items that other people in my social circles won't have.  (...I love it when I show up for work and a co-worker is wearing the exact same shirt I am!...)

One of the coolest clothing stores online is ModCloth.  Ever heard of it?  I love their clothes!  They are vintage style with a touch of modern.  Every time I go on their website I find a million things I want to buy.  Great little dresses, winter coats, skirts, adorable tops and sweaters and they all have great item names.  Pretty on the Park Bench Dress, Looking Forward to It Necklace, Warm Welcome Coat...gotta love it!  They also have this page called Be The Buyer.  You can vote for the items you want them to carry.  So awesome!!  Take a look at some of the items below and you fall in love!

Gallon Ghosts

I saw the idea for these unbelievably cute ghost luminaries on Pinterest and made them for our work Halloween party.

Required Supplies:
  • Empty water or milk jugs
  • Black marker
  • X-Acto knife
  • Candle or light for inside

All you need to do is draw ghostly faces on the water jugs, cut a hole in the back of the jug to insert the candle and you are done!  Instant ghost luminaries.  So cute!

Halloween Decor - Witches' Workshop

I'm jumping back a month to Halloween to revisit some Halloween crafts and ideas...

My neighbor loves Halloween and throws a costume party every year.  About 3 to 4 weeks before the party we start decorating her house.  When I say decorate I don't mean putting up a couple knick knacks, I'm talking floor to ceiling decorations with enough spider webbing to cover the state!  Bats, skulls, candles, spiders, ghosts, witches...I could go on and on.  This year she was looking for something different to decorate her buffet table.  I had seen some great ideas on Pinterest (love it!) using apothecary jars so I turned the buffet into a witches' workshop.

I filled a couple of condiment jars with ears and eyeballs and another with severed fingers and then added colored water.  Other jars were filled with moss and a collection of spiders and bugs.  The table was complete with a cauldron, witches spell book, candles, spiders, mice, bats and body parts.  Everything a witch would require for the perfect spell!

I think it turned out pretty well.  Let me know your thoughts and other ideas.

"Don't be afraid to fail. Be afraid not to try."

I am addicted to just about anything creative or crafty...hence my blog name.  Because of my long standing addiction to creativity as well as my new addiction to Pinterest I thought I would try a blog.  I have been afraid to do it because really...who am I?  Who wants to read what I have to say?  Well I hope other creative and crafty people like me will.  At least if it doesn't work I can say I tried!

So if it's creative, crafty, if I've tried it or would like to try it I will include it on my blog.  I hope you enjoy!
